LONG ISLAND HOMESITE
The waters around Long Island are very popular with sailors, motorboaters, and yachtsmen. On the leeward side, the water is shallow, and on the "Northern" side, as it is termed by the locals, it is quite deeps. There are many spectacular places to boat, including Conception Island, and Rum Cay. Matter of fact, due to the construction of a huge marina in Rum Cay (see their website), boating in the waters of Long Island will get even more popular.

Long Island Regatta![]() May 25 - May 28 2007. The Long Island Regatta, with its majestic sailing sloops, has been held at Salt Pond every year in May or June since 1967. Many people flock to the island from throughout the country and around the world to view creations by the renowned Knowles boat builders at Mangrove Bush, who produce the majority of racing sloops in The Bahamas. The popular song "Long Island Breeze," composed and sung by Bahamian architect and entertainer Pat Rahming with words by Long Island born scoolteacher Jerome Cartwright, epitomizes the very essence of Long Island. The song can be heard on nearly every radio on the island during Regatta time.
Clarence Town has a modern deep water harbor. Anchoring, Dockage, Fuel and Supplies are available.
